About

Camp Fatima of New Jersey offers activities such as singing around the flagpole, swimming in the pool, and experiencing the outdoors. Campers spend time enjoying the week’s or weekend’s activities and entertainment, reminiscing around the campfire, and taking part in art, athletic, musical, and sensory experiences. Programs are structured around a theme that is brought to life through silly costumes, engaging daily activities, an interactive play, and these varied experiences, and no two programs are alike.

• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Schedule: Two one-week overnight camping sessions for school-aged (5–21) children with disabilities, plus four weekends throughout the spring and fall for adults with disabilities
• Price: All campers attend programs free of charge

Camp Fatima of New Jersey was officially incorporated in 1971 and has been in continuous operation since its inception in 1968. For over 50 years, it has offered summer camp programs for children and sleep-away weekends for adults with disabilities. The organization is a private, not for profit, non-sectarian organization that is funded entirely by private donations and fundraising events and does not receive any government funding. Camp Fatima of New Jersey serves over 100 children and over 60 adults annually, and all participants attend free of charge.

Camp Fatima of New Jersey is run completely by volunteers, from the Board of Directors to the staff at the summer camp and adult weekend programs. Each year over 400 volunteers, ranging in age from 16 to 70+, give their time and talents to create what is known at camp as “Fatimagic.” Participants are children and adults who have cognitive, sensory, and motor differences. Volunteers are people ages 16 and up who have a passion for helping others and wish to lend their talents and expertise.

The mission of Camp Fatima of New Jersey is to provide free, life enriching camp experiences for children and adults with disabilities. The leadership team includes Chairperson Joan Lacagnina, Secretary Kira Cruz, Treasurer Ryan Mueller, Finance and Long Term Planning led by Joan Lacagnina, Fundraising led by Tim Dolan, Programs led by Nick Maulbeck, Governance led by Harry Burke, and Marketing led by Manny Ramirez.
