Rise Youth Programs are part of Rise, which offers uRise programs such as English Language Learners, Youth Enrichment, Nutrition and Wellness, Become a Creator, and Community Connections. Rise also runs the Rise Backpack Drive, which equips 1,200 students with essential school supplies, and provides complimentary services that include assistance with official documents and school supplies. In addition, Rise operates a thrift shop where previously loved items get a new home and every dollar spent is reinvested back into the community, and the Rise Pantry distributes non-perishable groceries, fresh produce, personal products, baby items, household cleaning supplies, coats, children’s books, and pet products.
For over fifty years, Rise has worked with the local community to better serve neighbors in need. Through community partnerships and direct services, Rise assists local families and individuals in recovering from setbacks and achieving their full potential. Rise is a center of social support in central New Jersey, focusing on Hightstown and East Windsor, and is described as the largest social service agency and food pantry in Eastern Mercer County. The organization’s leadership includes Executive Director Leslie Koppel and Youth Council Director Sanziana Penafiel, along with a staff team that includes case managers, program coordinators, pantry and thrift store staff, and operations support. The Board includes a Board President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and additional board members and a board member emeritus.
