Camp Kipanga offers a program for children ages 5–14 who struggle with peer relationships, impulse control, fitting in with others, coping with emotions, and related difficulties. The camp provides extra support to children with social challenges so they can enjoy a successful summer camp experience. The environment focuses on helping campers explore their interests, try new activities, connect with like-minded peers, and feel supported by staff. The program’s full focus is on building social skills through play and fun activities that embrace the whole camper. Enrichment activities such as theater are used to enhance social skills, and physical activities are included to raise fitness level. The 2026 season begins June 29th, and there is no camp on July 3, 2026. Camp runs from 9:00 AM–3:00 PM daily, with drop-off between 8:30 and 9:00 AM. The camp maintains at least a 1:4 staff-to-child ratio.

Camp Counselors are enrolled in undergraduate and graduate programs in social work, special education, psychology, and related fields, and counselors are supported by licensed clinicians. The camp founder and director, Michele Koenig, holds LPC and LMFT credentials and also serves as Camp Director and Director of Clinical Services at RJFS. The camp founder and director has a strong professional background in social skills training.

Families are asked to send lunch from home and to send a beverage each day labeled with the child’s name. Each day, campers are expected to bring a bathing suit, a change of clothes for after swim, a full water bottle, a beverage for lunch, and a hat and/or sunscreen.

A camp parent shared, “Each day my son came out with a huge smile excited to talk about what he did at camp. His confidence increased tremendously and he even made a good friend from his peer group which is amazing! He wants to go to Camp Kipanga every year!” Registration is open for the 2026 season.
