The camp runs a sports apprentice program, artists-in-residence, a lifeguard-in-training option, and 50 teen clubs, and campers can earn community service hours for their resume, honor society, and clubs. Country Roads has over 55 years of tradition as a family run camp and developed its teen leadership program over 40 years ago, which is described as the most popular teen leadership program in the tri-state area.

The mission statement for Country Roads describes it as a magical place where kids and staff pick up right where they left off on camp, and states a commitment to providing what it calls the best summer vacation a child can experience at the best possible price. Certain teen programs include a hot buffet lunch, breakfast bar, and snacks when on-site, and campers in these programs receive a season pass to Six Flags and Hurricane Harbor. Campers choose from a list of 40 activities for electives and receive a printed schedule each week, and counselors are hired directly from the CIT program, with the possibility to secure a job a year in advance.

The staff includes fully Red Cross certified and trained lifeguards, high energy college students majoring in early childhood education, junior counselors trained in the CIT program, and a staff of teachers who are division leaders, coaches, and specialists.
