Allaire Gymnastics offers Mini Gymnastics Classes along with gymnastics and tumbling. The program also offers Birthday Parties, Private Lessons, and Open Gym. Classes run on a rolling basis from month to month, with automatic roll into the new month unless a family withdraws.
• Ages: 3–5 years old
• Schedule: New Mini Gymnastics Class starting January 21, 1:30–2:30, with office hours Tuesday 3:30–6:00, Wednesday 3:30–5:30, Thursday 3:30–6:30, and Friday 4:00–6:00
• Price: Mini Gymnastics Class tuition is $76.00 per month; Annual Registration is $30.00; drop-in class for students not currently enrolled is $18.00 for a one-hour class; registration fee is $30.00 for new students and $20.00 for returning students
Allaire Gymnastics has been serving the shore area for 50 years, opening in September 1974 in Belmar, NJ, and moving to its current town in 1985, and is celebrating 52 years of training young athletes. Owner/Director Linda Havlusch leads the program. All instructors are USA Gymnastics safety certified.
The program’s stated philosophy, beginning with parent and tot classes, is to develop the child's self-esteem and improve confidence and self-image, with goals that include encouraging children to participate in group activities, follow simple instructions, and have fun. The program offers individualized instruction in what it describes as a safe and fun atmosphere and uses a progressive program that allows children to advance at a comfortable rate for their ability. Discounts are offered for siblings for Gymnastics and Tumbling, and there is a multi-class discount on the second class for a student in multiple classes, with some exceptions.
Makeup classes are offered for missed classes when scheduled through the office. Snow day closings are announced by phone message, and makeup classes are offered for those days. If a child’s class falls on a holiday when the gym is closed, no makeup classes or discounts are offered for that month’s tuition.
The gym has windows that are kept open for fresh air circulation, and the facility is cleaned and disinfected before each class. Equipment is disinfected and sanitized before each class, the gym is disinfected every day, and it is cleaned in between all rotations and classes. The program states that it is taking measures to provide a safe and clean environment for students.
Parents can watch from a lobby area with viewing windows but are not allowed in the gym unless it is a parent participation class, and at this time parents are encouraged to drop and go due to Covid-19 procedures. Each gymnast brings a bag for belongings such as clothes, shoes, water bottle, and personal items, and a labeled water bottle is requested because the water cooler is shut off. Girls may wear a leotard without a skirt, with hair pulled up or back and no jewelry, and may also wear shorts or leggings or shorts and a fitted t-shirt; boys may wear gym shorts without buttons, zippers, or buckles and a fitted, tucked-in t-shirt. Gymnasts do not wear shoes or socks in the gym, families are asked not to arrive more than 5 minutes before class, athletes enter through the double doors nearest the bathroom where a coach waits, and students are not released until staff see that a parent or guardian is present.
