The Ockanickon Character Universe (O.C.U.) is a gamified character-building program themed around the question, “Who are you playing as? The hero, the villain, or the villager?” and includes character qualities called Ascender, Elder, Spirit, Stargazer, Storm, Monk, and Blue Feather. Within this universe, the Elder Quest is an elaborate game in which teams of campers compete to earn Epic Items such as THE GOLDEN TOILET BOWL, THE OCKY BLOCK, THE TEAM CUP, THE GOLDEN BOW, THE OPEN WORLD HELMET, THE LURE OF THE LAKE, and THE BLESSING OF HOM TANKS, along with additional Epic Items like THE SWORD OF ASCENDER, THE ELDER TORCH, THE SPIRIT ELIXIR, THE STARGAZER SCOPE, THE STORM ARMOR, and THE MONK ROBES. The Emblems program is a determination and goal-setting program dating back to the 1920s, in which each camper receives an Emblem Block on the first day of camp and a guide listing specific milestones and achievements called Emblems, divided into Six Skill Guilds: VOYAGER, MARKSMAN, ATHLETE, ARTISAN, PHILOSOPHER, and CHALLENGER, which include activities such as challenge course elements as part of the Six Skill Guilds.
Most Wilderness Trips expeditions are 6–7 days long and take place largely off-site on land and water trails, with all nights spent in tents, and Wilderness Trips instructors are trained in Wilderness First Aid, CPR, Lifeguarding for canoe expeditions, leadership development curriculum, and backcountry living skills. YMCA of the Pines notes a 120th Anniversary in 2026 with references to 120 Years of Impact and Still Growing, and describes the achievements and accomplishments of Ockanickon and Matollionequay alumni over the last 113 years. YMCA of the Pines is an interfaith, charitable association dedicated to helping children, teens, and families explore, grow, thrive and ultimately become the best version of themselves. YMCA of the Pines hosts a 38th Annual Golf Tournament supporting the YMCA of the Pines Scholarship Fund, which helps kids with financial need attend camp.
