River Dell Soccer Association offers soccer through an Instructional Program, a Recreational Program, and a Travel Program named the Blackhawks. Children take part in activities such as 5v5 games for 2nd graders and games that are typically an hour long. The Instructional Program includes 50 minutes of soccer fun on Saturday mornings.
• Ages: 5–13 years old
• Schedule: Grades 3–8 start the Tuesday after Labor Day, Grades K–2 start the Saturday after Labor Day weekend, with games typically an hour long and the schedule running the same days every week; players in the Recreational Program have about two practices or games per week, and 2nd graders’ 5v5 games follow the 3/4 boys’ and girls’ schedules every Saturday (girls) and Sunday (boys)
The Instructional Program is offered for all children attending Kindergarten and 1st grade. The Recreational Program is offered for all children attending grades 2 through 8, with divisions structured as 3rd/4th, 5th/6th, and 7th/8th grade groupings. Upon request, players can play up based on their birth year. One change is that 2nd graders will be having 5v5 games only, and an additional field for 3rd and 4th grade players was introduced in the 2024 season to enhance playing time. Teams are typically drafted by the end of August, and River Dell Soccer Association uses TeamSnap so families can link the schedule with their personal iOS or Google calendar.
The stated mission of River Dell Soccer Association is to further the common welfare and well-being of the communities of Oradell and River Edge by providing children with the opportunity to participate in the sport of soccer. Their participation is intended to be organized in a manner promoting safety and fostering appropriate social, education, and athletic values and for the benefit of the children.
