About

Leapfrog Learning Center offers half and full day preschool programs that follow a theme based curriculum, with all monthly activities woven around a single subject. The center also runs a Summer Camp described as an affordable summer adventure camp. Low student/teacher ratios at Leapfrog Learning Center enable teachers to customize a program around the needs of each child.

• Ages: 2.5–6 years old
• Schedule: Half and full day preschool programs; Summer Camp sessions for children ages 2.5–6 years old

Leapfrog Learning Center was founded by husband and wife team Maureen and Randy Vaughan, and Maureen originally started the preschool in her home before it expanded. In 1992, Leapfrog opened its Shrewsbury location with eight families and two teachers, and today the school has over 14 teachers and over 80 families each year. The center has been operating for over twenty-five years and has continuously developed curriculums that parents consider one of the most desirable programs for their child’s early education. Maureen has an education degree from the University of London, and the current Director is Kristen Isaacson.

The program’s mission is to develop a new standard in pre-school education by combining fun and excitement with exposure to solid old fashioned values and an introduction to the academic world children will encounter later. Its stated objective is to cultivate a “can do” attitude that makes children enthusiastic participants in the learning experience, and it pledges to give personal and nurturing care so every student feels secure and can unlock their learning potential. Leapfrog Learning Center states that its top priority is socialization intended to foster self confidence and a positive attitude while teaching skills needed for success with other children, and that its academic program is designed to give children the skills needed for success in their next school while making academic accomplishments fun, physical, and relevant. The center describes a commitment to parents through affordable tuition and flexible scheduling options, and a commitment to teachers through a positive working environment and administrative support. Everyone who works at the center is described as being committed to making Leapfrog the best preschool in the country, and its 25+ year quest for quality has focused on the needs of students, parents, and teachers.

Leapfrog Learning Center has an open door policy where parents are always welcome to visit classrooms. The Summer Camp is described as an affordable summer adventure camp designed for children ages 2½ years up to age 6. The center enjoys yearly visits from the local police and fire department and the Hackensack Meridian Health team, visits the Shrewsbury Library, and makes friends with the residents at The Chelsea. Family and friends have the opportunity to visit classrooms to talk to the children about their jobs in the community and to share their cultural and family traditions.
