Garden State Music Center Music Lessons offers private music instruction, including piano, drum, guitar, voice, and orchestral strings lessons. The program also provides in-store and virtual music lessons, along with access to instrument rentals and an on-site repair shop. Since opening its doors in 1982, Garden State Music Center has operated as a locally owned and operated business with deep roots in the local arts scene. Garden State Music Center offers budget-friendly, short-term instrument rentals, including school band rentals and specific options such as saxophone, clarinet, trumpet, and cello rentals. The rental program is engineered to provide students with premium, educator-approved instruments, and staff size each student to ensure the instrument fits them physically. The rental fleet follows a quality assurance protocol that includes inspection of pad seating, valve action, cork integrity, and overall finish.
Instrument repair services at Garden State Music Center include guitar repair, brass and woodwind repair, string instrument repair, and luthier services. Repairs involve comprehensive diagnostic inspections, such as pressure-testing for airtight integrity and proper resonance, and guitar setup evaluations that check neck relief, nut slot depth, and saddle radius. The shop uses premium replacement materials, including in clarinet repair, and offers string instrument services such as re-gluing open seams and carving custom maple bridges with high-quality maple bridges and premium strings. Ultrasonic cleaning is available for instruments, and increased sanitation and cleaning measures are in place store-wide, including professional HVAC duct and air system cleaning, with an option for professional cleaning of instruments at the shop.
