JCC MetroWest has been a pillar of the community for over 140 years and has been at the center of the community for over 149 years. Nearly 2,000 people have entered the J for educational, social, cultural, and fitness programs every day, and through classes, theater events, the fitness center, summer camps, and community-wide festivals, JCC MetroWest touches approximately 50,000 people each year. The mission of JCC MetroWest is to strengthen the community and add meaning to the lives of those it serves by connecting them to and through shared Jewish experiences. The Leon & Toby Cooperman JCC includes an award-winning fitness center with two full-size swimming pools and over 100 weekly group exercise classes, and its summer day camps include the ACA Accredited Camp Deeny Riback. In keeping with Jewish heritage and values, JCC MetroWest is described as an inclusive community of communities that is open to and appreciates people of all ages, genders, races, religions, nationalities, ethnicities, abilities, sexual orientations, education, socioeconomic levels, and political perspectives.
One testimonial from Fran Hoberman-Schenkel and Howard Schenkel states that they have been attending the J since 2015, that they use the fitness center and Life Long Learning classes, and that they appreciate efforts made during Covid to keep the building open. Another testimonial from a JCC fitness member describes joining shortly after moving to New Jersey, using the pool and classes, and feeling that protocols and procedures put in place after Covid allowed continued use of the J. A third testimonial from Betty Connelly notes using the indoor pools, a free orientation at the fitness center, and working with a personal trainer named Marianna, and mentions being pleased with the equipment, cleanliness, and the orientation session.
