Adaptive Sports Program New Mexico offers adaptive skiing, snowboarding, watersports, river rafting, archery, rock climbing, indoor rock climbing, camping, sailing, kayaking, fishing, stand-up paddleboarding, and adaptive fly fishing for children and adults with disabilities. The program includes indoor rock climbing sessions, outdoor climbing and archery days, and multi-day watersports and camping weekends.

• Price: Adaptive Rock Climbing at Stone Age North Gym: $10; Cattle Call Wall & Archery: free; Ute Lake Watersports & Camping weekend (September 11–13): disabled veteran athletes free, non-veteran athletes $150, family member and/or caretaker $50; Ute Lake Saturday-only (September 12): disabled veteran athletes free, non-veteran athletes $75, family member and/or caretaker $25
Since 1985, Adaptive Sports Program New Mexico has offered therapeutic recreational activities to children and adults with disabilities, and for more than 40 years it has provided outdoor adventure experiences for children, adults, and military veterans living with disabilities. Its mission is to enhance the lives of children and adults with disabilities through recreation. The program is a statewide nonprofit serving 250–300 athletes each year through more than 1,000 lessons and experiences, supported by a network of more than 250 trained volunteers who receive specialized training to tailor lessons to each athlete’s goals and abilities.
Programs are open to children and adults with disabilities, and some activities are open to family members and caregivers. Veteran-specific programs are offered periodically throughout the year. Adaptive Sports Program New Mexico collaborates with schools, veteran organizations, healthcare providers, and community partners, and partners with Stone Age Climbing Gym for the Indoor Rock Climbing event. All participants for indoor rock climbing must register in advance, walk-ins cannot be accommodated, registration fees are non-refundable unless cancellation occurs at least 48 hours before the program, and scholarships are available for the $10 registration fee if requested in advance.
For the Cattle Call Wall & Archery day, lunch is provided, families are asked to bring camping chairs or blankets, and participants are advised to dress in layers and bring sunscreen and hats because mornings can be chilly and it can become hot later in the day. Adaptive Sports Program New Mexico also raises support through holiday wreath sales, an annual Snow Ball Gala with auctions, dinner, drinks, and dancing, and by offering ASPNM gear such as casual and performance tees, hoodies, polos, trucker hats, beanies, backpacks, and totes. The organization has been selected as a featured nonprofit in the Target Circle program.
