About
Dryland Summer Camps offers an outdoor-based program that includes guided biking adventures, scenic hikes, beach activities, pool sessions, and structured field games. Activities begin and end each day at the DPSEF Learning Center and are led by certified coaches.
• Ages: 6–18 years old
• Schedule: Four one-week sessions, Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 3 PM
The program is supported by a leadership team that includes Athletic Director and U12 Head Coach Mats Boehnke; Program Administrator Tori Cook; Race Administrator Mike Vester; Mighty Mites Head Coaches Ash Sullivan and Kait Flocchini; Shooting Stars Head Coach Mimi Meyer; U10 Head Coach and Head Mountain Bike Coach Anastasia “Stazi” Seator-Braun; U16/U18 Head Coach and Staff Education Coordinator Darryl Whitaker; Freeride Head Coach Jaret Cross; Head Devo Race Coach Jason Green; and Head All Mountain and Safety/Utility Coach John Murrell (“Johnny Dingo”). Certified coaches, including a USSS Level 500 Certified Coach and Level 3 PSIA Instructor (Darryl Whitaker), lead the activities, and the staff includes international coaches.
The mission of the program is to provide a year-round program that develops each athlete’s skill, grit, and integrity, and inspires and empowers them to achieve their personal goals in both athletics and life, through an uncompromising focus on its values and high-caliber coaching. The broader organization offers comprehensive developmental racing and all-mountain programs tailored for skiers of all levels and abilities, starting from ages 5 and up.
Campers are expected to bring gear suitable for being outside most of the day, including lunch, snacks, water, biking essentials (bike, helmet, flat shoes, bike gloves, glasses), swimwear for pool activities, suitable attire for hiking, and general outdoor activity gear. Coaches assist with carrying backpacks, and the program notes that it is better when the athlete’s gear is easy to carry.
Donations sustain the Diamond Peak Ski Team’s year-round programs by covering 40% of operating costs not met by athlete tuition, with the remaining operating expenses funded through donors and fundraising efforts such as chairlift and season sponsorship programs, Ullr Fest, and hosted ski races at Diamond Peak Ski Resort. The program notes that campers can enhance biking skills, experience a wide variety of recreational activities, gain an appreciation for the natural beauty of Lake Tahoe, and build a sense of camaraderie among athletes under the expert guidance of certified coaches.
