Camp Discovery gives kids the chance to code video games, fend off a zombie invasion, and experiment with rockets and robots. Camp sessions include hands-on science exploration in a setting focused on science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM) learning. The program takes place at The Terry Lee Wells Nevada Discovery Museum (The Discovery), which features hands-on galleries and exhibitions.
• Ages: 5–12 years old
• Schedule: Camps are available during the summer months and during WCSD’s winter, fall, and spring breaks, with Spring Break 2026 camps offered March 23–27 and March 30–April 3, 2026, and Summer 2026 camps running June 15–August 7, 2026.
• Schedule: Summer 2026 offers eight weeks of more than 40 unique, week-long camps.
Since opening to the public in 2011, The Discovery has focused on informal STEAM learning through exhibitions, events, and programs for all ages. The organization states that its mission is: “Inspire by being the place to experience science.” The Discovery offers financial assistance to support the educational needs of students from families in need in the community and notes that it is in no way affiliated with Discovery Communications, LLC. Dean Neese is listed as a member of the Board of Directors.
