About
Theater Day Camps take place at Reno Little Theater, a volunteer-driven, non-profit organization that operates two stages under one company. The camps are connected to a theater that reaches more than 18,000 people annually through its programming and has seen single-ticket audiences increase by more than 10% year over year since 2014, with season ticket holders growing by more than 60% in the same period. Theater Day Camps are part of an organization whose name, Good Luck Macbeth, references a theatre tradition about the phrases “Good Luck” and “Macbeth” being considered accursed inside the theatre space.
The mission of Reno Little Theater is to create exceptional theatrical experiences that inspire, entertain, and strengthen the community through artistic engagement and collaboration. Reno Little Theater was founded in 1935 and has served local artists and audiences for 90 years, and it is currently in its 90th Season. A 99-seat black box theater opened in the Wells Avenue District of Reno in 2012, and in 2019 a new seating structure was installed, increasing capacity to 128. In 2013, the organization hired its first professional staff member in over thirty years, and in 2018 it paid off the theater’s mortgage and now owns its facilities outright. The leadership team includes Executive Director Melissa Taylor, Technical Director Chad Sweet, Community Engagement Manager Eric Boudreau, Assistant Technical Director Oliver Bream, Technical Director GLM Audra McCarroll, Executive Assistant Libby Bakke, Education Program Coordinator LaRonda Etheridge, Audience Services Coordinator Lyric Burt, New Works Initiative Coordinator Sandra Neace, and Parody Coordinator Ashley Atack.
Reno Little Theater and Good Luck Macbeth are merging to create a stronger, more sustainable future for live theater in the community, with a stated commitment to protecting local theater, uplifting diverse voices, and supporting Northern Nevada as a hub for creativity and connection. Community partners and programs at the theater include monthly jazz concerts presented by For the Love of Jazz at Sunday Jazz at RLT, monthly senior readers’ theatre presented by Ageless Repertory Theatre, Spanish-language and bilingual performances and events presented by Latino Arte & Culture, monthly improv comedy nights by Crocodile Nixon featuring RLT favorites, and the Perspectives Reading Series, which offers monthly readings of plays by BIPOC playwrights.
