Swim Lessons Program

The Swim Lessons Program includes Parent and Child Aquatics for infants and young children ages 6 months to about 3 years, plus Level 1 through Level 5 for children approximately 3 years and up. The levels cover Introduction to Water Skills, Fundamental Aquatic Skills, freestyle, back kick, freestyle breathing, elementary backstroke, stroke improvement, butterfly, sidestroke, treading water, and diving.

Programs

• Parent and Child Aquatics — infants and young children ages 6 months to about 3 years · Builds basic water safety skills for parents and children; helps children become comfortable in the water.
• Level 1 — approximately 3 years and up · Introduction to Water Skills; no prerequisites.
• Level 2 — approximately 3 years and up · Fundamental Aquatic Skills; prerequisite is successful demonstration of skills from Level 1.
• Level 3 — approximately 3 years and up · Freestyle, back kick, basic freestyle, freestyle breathing, elementary backstroke; must be able to comfortably swim 15 feet.
• Level 4 — approximately 3 years and up · Stroke Improvement; includes breaststroke kick, breaststroke arms, stroke and kick timing, breathing timing, freestyle and backstroke.
• Level 5 — approximately 3 years and up · Advanced Strokes/Diving; includes butterfly, front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke, sidestroke, treading water, and diving.

About the provider

The program follows a five-level progression, and the classes are designed to give participants a positive learning experience. Its curriculum is a progressive learning system designed to make children safer when in and around water. The City of Sparks child-centered swim program offers superior swim instructor training and was developed by the founder of the nationally acclaimed, award-winning Swim Lessons University.
