About

Albany Rowing Center Youth Program includes on-land instruction to learn the basic rowing stroke, practice of the rowing stroke on an erg, and on-water rowing in a variety of different boats. Participants experience rowing on the Hudson River as part of the program.

• Schedule: Youth Spring Learn-to-Row April 13 - June 7
• Price: All members are required to register and pay an annual membership fee, which is currently $295 per year.

Albany Rowing Center Youth Program is part of Albany Rowing Center, which was founded in 1984 as the Organization of Adirondack Rowers and Scullers, and in 2000 filed to use Albany Rowing Center as its official business name. The mission of Albany Rowing Center (ARC) is to stimulate and foster interest in the sport of rowing among amateurs, to publicize the benefits of rowing as a means of health and physical development, to uphold the principles and standards of amateur rule, and to promote interest in the sport of rowing through competition and the holding of regattas, using every reasonable means to advance and promote amateur rowing in accordance with the best traditions of sportsmanship. ARC is a not-for-profit organization committed to providing recreational and competitive rowing opportunities for both youth and adults and is proud to be partners with Omni Fitness Center, home for the Winter Training Program. ARC has received funding from governmental agencies and private corporations for upgrades to the club's facilities and equipment, including docks, safety equipment and oars.

Albany Rowing Center is a tax exempt organization under Section 501c(3) of the federal Internal Revenue Code and is a registered charity in New York State. Albany Rowing Center is an affiliated member of USRowing, the governing body for the sport of rowing in the United States. The organization uses a club management system called iCrew for program registrations, payments, practice attendance, and more, and covers the cost of USRowing individual membership as part of the annual membership fee. USRowing requires adults over the age of 18 to complete Safe Sport training. ARC holds an Annual Meeting of the members during the first week of November. The leadership team includes President Eric Breimer, Vice President Rebecca Clark, Treasurer Michelle Conway, Secretary Tanya Burton, Directors Katherine Bollin, Louise Farrell, Samin Khan, Catherine Dickert, and Prasad Shinde, and Past President Anne Murphy.
