Eleftheria Pancyprian Soccer Club was established in 1981 and has been in operation for more than four decades. The club operates as an amateur, nonprofit soccer club and is a division of the Pancyprian Association. Its mission states that from day one, the mission has been to develop players the right way on and off the field, with winning described as important but with development, character, and accountability described as mattering more.
The youth programs follow a clear curriculum and development pathway and offer a complete player pathway from introductory youth programs and intramural leagues to competitive travel and select teams. The club emphasizes structured training, high standards, and a long-term development model, with a stated philosophy to play assertive, possession-focused soccer. The program emphasizes controlling the game and creating goal-scoring opportunities through “numbers up” plays, an aggressive approach to winning the ball back quickly when out of possession, and empowering players to express themselves in the final third while focusing on developing skilled individuals who understand the value of teamwork.
Eleftheria Pancyprian Soccer Club is rooted in the Greek and Cypriot communities and is described as a community institution that connects generations, preserves cultural identity, and uses the game as a vehicle to teach respect, responsibility, and leadership. Eleftheria Pancyprian Soccer Club and the New York Pancyprian Freedoms are part of the Pancyprian Association in Astoria, and Eleftheria and NY Pancyprians march on 5th Ave honoring Greek Independence and justice for Cyprus. The New York Pancyprian Freedoms is described as a nationally recognized men’s program with a proud legacy of success.
The leadership team includes Founder Mike Leandrou; Legacy President and Board Member Nick Tziazas; President Parry Ermogenous; Vice President Costas Pavlakos; Second Vice President Phytos Neophytou; Executive Board members Peter Pavlakos, George Varvatsoulis, George Vlahakis, Stavroula Bletsas, Andrew Hadjiminas, and Paolo Ippolito; Executive Director and Zone 1 Director Billy Antoniou; Zone 2 Lead Josefina Velez-Tirado; and Director of Player Development Pano Onisiforou.
