ESF Camps has been making a difference every day since 1982 and describes its guiding philosophy as MAXJOY, which it identifies as its signature framework and proprietary guiding philosophy, with Drivers of ESF MAXJOY developed and reinforced daily at camp. The organization states that its programs are chock-full of fun and skill-building experiences, that safety, health and well-being are a priority with protocols and mandates in place, and that its character-building curriculum is designed to explore and expand campers’ innate talents, curiosities, self-esteem and social skills. ESF Camps are run by a collaboration of educators who, according to the program, have a deep commitment to the development of each camper and a sensitivity to the unique needs of each camper, and every location is supported by a full-time onsite camp nurse with an on-call physician available at all times. The program describes its offerings as award-winning, with best-in-class programming created in collaboration with partners, and invites families to view its accolades.
The camp notes that 60+ activities and time-honored traditions are part of camp life and that it offers traditional camps, specialty sports camps, STEAM specialty camps, Bold Summers Pre-College, and a leadership camp. ESF also highlights its Young Leaders Program for rising 9th and 10th grades and its recognition of campers who reach their 10 Year Milestone as “2025 Legends.” Testimonials from parents and former campers describe ESF as having diverse programs with a fit for many interests, mature and professional staff, and daily swimming, and one parent notes that a child who took an after-camp fencing clinic in 2010 later competed as one of the youngest in the Fencing Junior Olympics. Another testimonial from a former camper and counselor states that ESF has been part of that person’s life for 13 years and is where they feel they grew up.
