Since 1977, Concordia Conservatory has offered music programs for early childhood, youth, and adults. Its mission is to inspire, instruct, and enrich lives through music by offering excellence in education and performance. The Conservatory describes itself as a preeminent center for music education in Westchester and Fairfield Counties and as a welcoming community where children and adults learn, perform, listen to, and participate with others in music. Early childhood music classes introduce toddlers and young children to music through interactive, engaging, and age-appropriate activities, and a Suzuki program offers cello, violin, and guitar for young learners in a fun and supportive environment.
Students at all levels are encouraged to participate in numerous performance opportunities throughout the year, and the chamber program culminates in a live performance, with ensembles grouped by skill level and playing repertoire that spans all genres. Chamber Music is open to students of all ages who have had at least one year of private instrumental or vocal lessons. Songwriting, Composition, and Music Theory programs are customized to suit students’ interests. Musical theatre classes for ages 5–13 focus on age-appropriate singing, acting, movement, dance, and group collaboration, and the annual tuition-free holiday community musical, now in its 26th year, is open to participants from age 8 through young adult.
Honors Programs are available for students who demonstrate talent, promise, and ambition to pursue advanced music studies, including Academy and Pre-Academy, Point of View Orchestra (POVO), and Awards of Distinction. First-time students are required to interview with the Executive Director prior to enrollment for teacher recommendation and scheduling. Summer programs for early childhood, youth, and adults are offered as a way for young musicians of all ages to explore creativity, try new activities, and hone music skills.
Concordia Conservatory offers clinically based therapeutic, educational, and rehabilitative music, art, and movement programs for the neurodiverse community, healthcare facilities, and senior living centers. Music, art, and movement therapy services serve children and adults with emotional, physical, developmental, and social needs, with individual and group therapy available. Financial aid and active community outreach partnerships provide access for all. Concordia Conservatory is a community music school serving Westchester and Fairfield counties and the surrounding areas, welcomes everyone in these areas, and is governed by an 18-member advisory board. It is a 501c3 not-for-profit, tax-exempt educational institution.
