Challenger Sports describes itself as North America's most trusted soccer camp provider and the leading youth soccer camps, programs, and services provider in North America. Challenger originated as a British-led soccer camp business in North America in 1985, and the company Challenger Sports was formed in 1997. In 2002, the sister company Challenger Teamwear was formed, and in 2011 Challenger Sports purchased the residential camper business SoccerPlus. In 2013, Challenger Sports launched a UK franchise division, and Challenger Sports grew to 115,000 summer campers, 12 tournaments, over 200 club trainers in the Academy program, and 500 travelers on international tours; that same year Challenger Teamwear exceeded $10MM in sales and started to distribute Under Armour. In 2018, British Soccer Camps were rebranded as International Camps, Challenger Teamwear began to distribute Adidas, and Challenger Sports established a Study and Play Abroad program. International Soccer Camps were described as the most popular soccer camp in the USA in 2021 despite not being allowed to bring over any foreign coaches. In 2023, International Soccer Camps became Foundational Skills Camps and Creative Skills Camps were added, and Challenger Sports underwent rebranding via outside help and worked with LeagueApps to build out its website. Challenger Sports completes 40 years of running soccer camps in 2025, and reports having positively impacted more than one million children globally since 1985.
