Green Chimneys Outdoor Education & Activities includes outdoor exploration, nature exploration, farm activities, wildlife activities, swimming in a state-of-the-art indoor pool, canoeing from a sandy canoe launch, and other outdoor adventure activities. The program also includes environmental learning, forest management learning, water conservation learning, and participation in farm and wildlife rehabilitation programs and organic farm and garden activities. Offerings include summer camp, preschool programs, before and after school programs, outdoor adventures for school groups, public events, family-friendly events and activities, and visits to the Farm & Wildlife Center.

• Schedule: Standard camp day with morning drop-off and late afternoon pick-up, with three-week sessions and an eight-week Counselor in Training option
• Price: 2026 Hillside Summer Camp weekly, session, and full-season rates with additional fees for early and late care
Green Chimneys was founded in 1947 and has over 75 years of history. Green Chimneys is a multi-faceted nonprofit organization that provides residential, educational, clinical and recreational services for young people in a safe and supportive environment that nurtures connections with their families, the community, animals and nature. Green Chimneys features certified teaching staff to provide full academic, behavioral and emotional support for grades K-12, with a student to faculty to teaching assistant ratio of 8:1:2. The leadership team for camp includes AJ Johnson, Camp Director, and Landy Guastadisegni, Assistant Camp Director.
Green Chimneys Summer Camps are licensed by the New York State Department of Health and are fully accredited by the American Camp Association, and Green Chimneys services include an accredited special education school on two campuses. Green Chimneys is recognized as a worldwide leader in animal-assisted therapy and educational activities for children with special needs and is a pioneer in animal and nature-based therapy. Green Chimneys is home to over 300 farm animals, horses and unreleasable wildlife, with domesticated animals providing close contact with children and non-domesticated species such as eagles, hawks and owls living in a wildlife center. A Model Forest promotes learning and best practices in forest management and water conservation.
Green Chimneys collaborates with local and regional schools to provide hands-on environmental learning through student trips. It provides comprehensive support services to at-risk, runaway, homeless, and foster care youth and families in crisis within Putnam County, and offers community programs and services including preschool programs, summer camp, outdoor adventures for school groups, and public events for all ages. Green Chimneys encourages weekend visits to its Farm & Wildlife Center and offers fresh produce, organic products, and local crafts from Boni-Bel Farm & Country Store. Additional supervision and activities are available to families in need of childcare in the early morning and late afternoon for an additional fee.
