Moriches Community Center Youth Programs and Camps

Moriches Community Center Youth Programs and Camps includes Camp Creativity, Theater Arts Camp, an After-School Drop-In Lounge, and Tutoring Tuesdays at the MCC. Camp Creativity includes arts and crafts, games, snacks, light recreation activities, and art projects. Theater Arts Camp includes prop construction, costuming, acting, singing, choreography, and show promotion. The After-School Drop-In Lounge lets students hang out, get work done, play games, and meet new people, and it includes free snack and water as needed. Tutoring Tuesdays is a free small-group tutoring program supervised by licensed teachers and paraprofessionals.

Programs

• Camp Creativity — Grades K-5 · July; weekly sessions from 9:00 am-12:00 pm · $165 per session · Fun and creative camp with arts and crafts, games, snacks, light recreation activities, and art projects.
• Theater Arts Camp — Recommended for those entering grades 3-9 · Monday-Thursday from 9:00 am-12:30 pm; final performance on Thursday, August 27th at 7:00 pm · $400 · Month-long camp exploring theater arts, including prop construction, costuming, acting, singing, choreography, and show promotion; $300 for each additional sibling.
• After-School Drop-In Lounge — Grades 6-12 · Monday-Friday from 2:30-4:30 pm when Center Moriches Schools are in session · Well-supervised, safe space for students to hang out, get work done, play games, and meet new people; includes free snack and water as needed.
• Tutoring Tuesdays at the MCC — Grades 6-9 · Tuesdays during the After-School Drop-In Lounge program from 2:30-4:30 pm · Free small-group-based tutoring program supervised by licensed teachers and paraprofessionals; similar to a homework club; no sign-up necessary.

About the provider

The Moriches Community Center was incorporated in March 2000, and its home at the Moriches Bay Recreation Center was realized in January 2019. The center was created to offer youth-based programs as an alternative to unhealthy risk-taking behaviors, with emphasis on violence prevention, diversity tolerance, civic pride, and personal responsibility, and to provide a safe, well-supervised gathering place. The center also offers youth-oriented programs and events, youth and outreach programs, a 5K fundraiser that helps fund these programs, volunteer opportunities, and scholarships for Center Moriches seniors.

Camp Creativity registration is first come, first served; children are grouped by age; maximum enrollment is 33; per-day enrollment is offered for $40 a day. Theater Arts Camp requires attendance at all dress and tech rehearsals to participate in the final showcase and notes that older or more experienced campers may receive more roles and lines. After-School Drop-In Lounge is open to students who can come alone or with friends and stay as long or as little as they like. Tutoring Tuesdays has no sign-up necessary.
