Moriches Community Center was incorporated in March 2000, and in January 2019 it obtained a permanent home at the newly renovated Moriches Bay Recreation Center. The organization’s leadership includes Executive Director Michael Valentine and co-founders and first Co-Executive Directors Anthony Parlato III and Kathleen Johnson. The Anthony Parlato III Memorial 5K Run/Walk is a fundraiser that helps fund many of the same programs Anthony developed to support local youth. The 2025 Holiday Outreach Program, run as Santa’s Workshop Event, worked with social workers at CMSD to provide gifts and food for over 30 local families. A portion of the proceeds from the yoga series and the Kathleen Johnson Memorial Nine and Dine Golf Invitational benefits Moriches Community Center programs and events. The organization also offers the Parlato-Johnson Memorial Scholarship, which provides two $1,000 scholarships to Center Moriches seniors who plan to attend higher education and who consistently put others first, contribute to the betterment of the community, and plan to continue giving back after graduation.
