About
Amadeus Conservatory of Music offers private lessons with professional musicians, including a Prelude program that is a low-cost private lesson program for beginners of all ages or adults returning to music. The program includes a Classical program with private lessons, ensembles, and theory classes, as well as a Contemporary program with instruction in electric and acoustic guitar, electric bass, piano, keyboard, sax, flute, and song writing and production. Students can take individual or semi-private and small group lessons in instruments such as violin, viola, cello, bass, harp, clarinet, saxophone, bassoon, oboe, flute, trumpet, French horn, trombone, tuba, drums, guitar, piano, and voice, and can also join a Rock Workshop that explores various forms of rock and funk music performance with artists such as James Brown, the Who, Stevie Wonder and others. The Early Childhood program includes Mini Music makers classes where babies and young children hear nursery rhymes set to music, both vocal and instrumental, and 3 to 5 year olds learn to play small violins, keyboards, bongos, recorders, xylophones, and ukuleles while they play, dance, and move to the beat, using ribbons, a parachute, bubbles, soft toys, drums, and games involving bouncing, wiggles and tickling, peek-a-boos and finishing with a calming lullaby.

Founder and Director Deborah Molodofsky is educated in both music and literature and received a Bachelor of Music, Magna Cum Laude, from the University of Michigan School of Music, where she studied with Paul Makanowitsky, the assistant of Ivan Galamian. She earned a Master of Arts in English, Magna Cum Laude, plus PhD (ABD) from Wayne State University, double majoring in music and English and studying with Mischa Mischakoff, former concertmaster of the NBC Symphony, and also studied with Piotr Milewski, assistant to Dorothy Delay at the Juilliard School. Her training includes chamber music study at the Mozarteum in Salzburg and doctoral work on symphonic and atonal form in The Magic Mountain and Dr. Faustus by Thomas Mann and jazz in the USA trilogy by John Dos Passos. She was invited to join the first violin section of the Mexico City Philharmonic Orchestra, has concertized in France, Italy, and Austria, has recorded with Decca, and has been a member of the Joachim Trio, The Debussy Quartet, Toledo Symphony, Toledo Symphony String Quartet, Michigan Opera Theater, Michigan Chamber Orchestra, Florida West Coast Symphony, Meadow Brook Music Festival, Meadowmount, The International Summer Academy Orchestra, and has participated in the Aspen Music Festival.
According to its mission statement, Amadeus Conservatory of Music aims to ignite a child’s passion for music through a program of private lessons, ensembles, and theory classes, with teachers dedicated to helping children advance and excel in their chosen instrument and to imbue them with a joyful connection to music that comes from actually playing classical music, and it states that it wants every student to experience the happiness that comes from learning to play an instrument or sing well.
