Building Blocks Developmental Preschool offers activities such as physical education, a music program, computer literacy activities, and field trips. Building Blocks Developmental Preschool has been dedicated to enhancing the development of all children ages birth through age five for 40 years. Its curriculum is aligned with New York State Department of Education Learning Standards and is enhanced by physical education, a music program, and computer literacy activities. The program offers comprehensive services including regular education, special education, speech therapy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, family training, evaluation services, and ABA therapy. Building Blocks derives its approval as a special education facility and evaluation site for children ages 3–5 years from the New York State Education Department and maintains a day care license in accordance with regulations set forth by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services.
The school hosts events such as Winter Olympics, a Thanksgiving musical, a circus, and celebrations of Reading Across America and Dr. Seuss' birthday, and has held a grand opening of a playground and welcomed back its Sensational Stories program. The children, staff, and administration of Building Blocks have thanked Legislator Leslie Kennedy and Comptroller Kennedy for their support, including arranging for Cornell Cooperative Extension to bring live turkeys to visit the children at the conclusion of their Thanksgiving musical.
The leadership team includes Executive Director Donna Charbonneau, MA, PD; Assistant Director Dorothy Aversano, MA, SLP-CCC, PD; and Educational Coordinator Christi M. Crispino, MS, SBL.
