About

theCoderSchool offers coding and robotics activities that include work in Python, Scratch, and video game coding. The program runs as an after-school drop-off and virtual program for kids learning to code, using a core format with a super-small student to teacher ratio that is typically 2:1. Instruction is led by experienced coders called Code Coaches, and the organization is headquartered in Silicon Valley and described as the largest in Silicon Valley with more locations on the way around the country.

• Schedule: After-school drop-off and virtual program options

Founded in 2013, theCoderSchool states the mission, “The future will be ever more dependent on technology so let's get our young generation ready.” The program offers an AppStream product for new coders through an online weekly video format, a National Top App of the Month program for student-created apps, and a partnership with the Congressional App Challenge (CAC) to run a national recognition program for top applications. As a longtime partner of the Congressional App Challenge, theCoderSchool is involved in encouraging innovation through coding across the country.

Parent feedback includes comments such as, “If you want your child to learn STEM concepts via coding, send them here. I’ve been in IT for 23 years and I have not seen anything close to the customized curriculum they created. Hands down, this is the place you want your kids to be,” from Siddhartha from New Jersey. Karin from California shared, “My son is having a wonderful experience at The Coder School. The instructors are exceptional. I was skeptical whether an online class could be engaging for him, but he is having a blast and learning a lot. It’s a quarantine lifesaver!” Kim from Georgia said, “My son is loving his coding lessons that are currently all being done online. The coaches and staff are very helpful. We also did an online spring break camp and he really learned a lot. He has fun creating games and then working on them until his next session. Highly recommend!” Bejon from Connecticut noted, “The kids really loved the Scratch camp. I haven’t seen them this excited about learning something new in a very long time. We look forward to coming back in late August.”
