JM McDonald Sports Complex Afterschool and Summer Camp

JM McDonald Sports Complex Afterschool and Summer Camp takes place within a multi-purpose sports venue that includes a large turf field, a sport court, the Suit-Kote Ice Arena, a party room, a meeting and conference room, and event space. Opening its doors in September of 2004, the JM McDonald Sports Complex was established as a non-profit organization to meet the indoor sports and recreational needs of Cortland and surrounding counties. Its mission is to provide affordable, family-oriented programming and events for the community and surrounding regions and to create a recreational environment where everyone can participate and have fun. The complex is a full entertainment arena that features concerts, carnivals, family events, consumer shows, and other events, and it is home to the Cortland-Homer Golden Eagles High School Hockey team, YMCA Gymnastics, and The Fitness Gap workout facility. Project CHAMP, the Cortland Homer After School Mentorship Program, was created at the complex to provide fitness and academic mentorship for the Cortland and Homer School Districts, and a grant was issued for the purchase of supplies and equipment needed for the implementation of this program. The complex is not publicly funded and receives its revenues from rentals, public fees, donations, and private grants.
