About
Great Falls Council Scouting Programs include activities such as camping, serving their community, racing pinewood derby cars, learning life skills, hanging out with friends, and high-adventure canoeing programs. The programs also send youth contingents to Scouting’s High Adventure bases, including Sea Base, the Summit, and Philmont. Scouting offers boys and girls ages 5–20 unique experiences through its signature programs, including Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, Venturing, and Exploring.

The Great Falls Council serves Western NY and the Twin Tiers with Scouting programs for Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, Venturers, Explorers, and adult volunteers in over 300 units. It serves over 5,300 youth and more than 3,000 adult volunteers. The council runs three Scout camps and offers Birchbark Expeditions, which are high-adventure canoeing programs in Western NY, the Adirondacks, and Ontario, Canada.
The mission of Great Falls Council Scouting Programs is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law. The council continues to rank near the top in the country in both trained leaders and youth protection-trained leaders. It runs an annual Scouting for Food drive that benefits community food pantries across its region. Adventure Fest 2026 is a council-wide celebration of Scouting taking place October 9–11 at Watkins Glen International, and youth do not need to be registered Scouts to attend this event.
