Kids World & Summer Enrichment Programs are part of the YWCA of Elmira & The Twin Tiers, which is the largest child care provider in Chemung County, offering care for pre-school through 6th grade. Kids World & Summer Enrichment Programs serve over 700 children daily in before- and after-school programs, as well as holidays at multiple sites. Program facilities include a gym and a pool, and the pool is currently indefinitely closed.

The YWCA of Elmira and the Twin Tiers has been serving the community for over 135 years, with the YWCA Elmira established in 1914. The organization’s mission is to eliminate racism, empower women, and promote peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all. Over its history, the YWCA has added services such as a gym in 1925, a pool in 1950, the first ADA pool lift in 1976, and the Latch Key Program in 1989 serving the Elmira City School District. The YWCA celebrated 125 years with acknowledgments from state and local officials.
The YWCA of Elmira & The Twin Tiers provides services to individuals and families, including minorities, the working poor, all ages, and those needing critical services through child care, youth leadership, breast health, fitness, recreation, and social justice. Kids World & Summer Enrichment Programs operate within an organization that is the oldest and largest multiracial women’s organization in the world. The leadership team includes Kelly Long (President), Kim Balok-Middaugh (Vice President), Meghan Rose (Treasurer), Laura Bennett (Secretary), Kristine Allen (CEO), Tonya Delige (Member), and Cortney Voorhees (Member).
One parent described Kids World by saying, “We’d be lost without Kids World. If my 9-year-old son didn’t have a safe, fun place to go to after school, I couldn’t keep working. My son loves Kids World, and looks forward to it every day. Since he started in September, his behavior and grades are already better.”
