About
French Woods Sports and Arts Center offers a wide range of activities, including hiking, biking, and horseback riding. Campers choose their own activities through a fully elective program that includes both traditional and non-traditional options. Each camper is offered a unique individual camping experience where they can select their own activities entirely.
• Ages: 12–17 years old
• Schedule: Campers ages 12–17 have the option of an affordable 2, 4, 6, 8, or 10-week session.
French Woods Sports and Arts Center is described as America’s Top Teen-Only Summer Camp and offers age-appropriate programming specifically designed for campers ages 12–17. The program includes multiple session choices with flexible dates, including 2-week sessions that can be combined in any way up to 10 weeks. The camp operates as a non-traditional camp with no uniform, flag calls, or ceremonies, and the entire facility is WiFi covered and climate controlled, with air-conditioned and heated facilities all year round. Campers enjoy varied and healthy meals in a spacious, air-conditioned dining room, with most food prepared in house to support quality and nutritional content.
The mission of French Woods Sports and Arts Center states that it offers teenagers a balance of a classic American summer camp in the mountains with clean living, modern facilities, world-class instruction, and mature staff. The program’s stated goal is that every camper returns home with treasured new memories, feeling good about themselves, having made new friends, improved on existing skills, tried something new, felt a sense of belonging, and wanting to come back again. The camp notes that it can work with any camper no matter what their interest or skill level is, and that campers come from all over the USA and abroad. The fully elective program was designed and implemented at French Woods almost 56 years ago, and French Woods Sports and Arts Center has been operating since 2015.
Parents and staff describe strong personal experiences in their testimonials. One parent, Jasmine, reports that her daughter explored new sports and activities, disconnected from devices, and developed a deeper appreciation for personal connections. Another set of parents, Mónica and Douglas, say their daughter became more confident, organized, caring, respectful, and responsible, and that she described camp as “the time of her life.” Other parents, such as Joanna and Brian, describe their children talking often about camp, planning to return, and viewing it as a place to grow, learn, explore, and meet other kids from around the world. Staff members like Eve and Cassidy describe French Woods Sports and Arts Center as a place where they gained new skills and confidence, made lifelong friends from all over the world, and consider it a second home. A camper named Estelle highlights that people from all around the world are welcomed, many friends are made, and that WiFi access allows campers to keep in touch with family and share their experience at any time.
