Since 2015, French Woods Sports and Arts Center has operated as a teen-only summer camp with age-appropriate programming specifically for campers ages 12–17. The camp describes itself as America’s Top Teen-Only Summer Camp and as a non-traditional camp where campers select their own activities entirely, follow a fully elective program first implemented at French Woods almost 56 years ago, and are not required to wear uniforms or attend flag calls or ceremonies. The entire camp is climate controlled, all facilities are WiFi covered, and living spaces include clean, roomy bunks with twin-size natural wood beds, dressers, closet space, storage areas, and modern bathrooms with large private shower stalls, fully mirrored double vanities, and flushing toilets, with a typical bunk sleeping 10 to 12 people including counselors.

The mission of French Woods Sports and Arts Center is to offer teenagers a balance of a classic American summer camp in the mountains with clean living, modern facilities, world-class instruction, and mature staff, in a supportive, age and content-appropriate environment. The program states that it offers hundreds of activities that attract teens with varied interests, allowing them to focus on chosen activities and try new things, with the goal that each camper returns home with treasured new memories, feeling good about themselves, having made new friends, improved on existing skills, tried something new, felt a sense of belonging, and wanting to come back again.

Parent and staff testimonials describe campers making new friends, disconnecting from devices, exploring new sports and activities, and talking often about their time at camp. Parents report that their children plan to return, and one parent notes that their child says it is the only place where they feel comfortable being themselves. Staff and former campers describe French Woods Sports and Arts Center as a place where they gained new skills and confidence, made lifelong friends from around the world, and consider it a second home. One camper notes that people from all around the world are welcomed, many friends are made, and that WiFi access allows them to keep in touch with family and share their experience at any time.
