New York State 4-H Youth Development includes activities such as addressing community health, engaging in civil discourse, advocating for opportunity for all, and projects in STEM and agriculture. New York State 4-H Youth Development is part of Cornell Cooperative Extension and is the youth development program of the nation’s Cooperative Extension System and the USDA. For more than 100 years, 4-H has welcomed young people of all beliefs and backgrounds and has given kids a voice to express who they are and how they make their lives and communities better. Through 4-H programs, nearly 170,000 young people in New York and nearly six million kids and teens nationwide have taken on critical societal issues, including advocating for opportunity for all. 4-H is described as America’s largest youth development organization, empowering nearly six million young people with skills to lead for a lifetime, and the 4-H Name and Emblem have special protections from Congress under code 18 USC 707. The New York State 4-H state office is housed in the Bronfenbrenner Center for Translational Research on the Cornell University campus in Ithaca, New York.
