Camp Akalaka is a camp program that is open to children and is associated with the Plattsburgh YMCA. Camp Akalaka Camp is open to children ages 5-12. The program is connected to the same YMCA organization that operates the Plattsburgh YMCA.

The Plattsburgh YMCA’s history dates back to 1887, when its first location was on the top floor of the D&H terminal. Its next location was above Tierney's Variety Store, which burned down in 1902. In 1908, Loyal Smith left the YMCA $35,000 for a new building and $100,000 to keep it running, and this is the site where the Plattsburgh YMCA is currently located on Oak Street.
