YMCA of Middletown Youth Programs offers activities such as Actin’ Up-Drama, Advanced Poetry Workshop, Basketball, Girls Basketball for ages 6-13, Basketball League | Coed for middle school boys and girls, Bollywood Groove Dance, Bollywood Groove Family Dance, Canvas Painting, Chess, Clay Play, Arts & Crafts, Color Pencil Art, and Crochet. The program includes acting practice with monologues, improv, skits, and short plays; Spoken Word poetry writing and performance; basketball drills for dribbling, shooting, passing, defense, and teamwork; and art and craft activities such as painting, clay projects, and crochet.

Programs

  • Actin’ Up-Drama — Students enhance their acting skills through monologues, improv, skits, and short plays.
  • Advanced Poetry Workshop — Learn all elements of writing Spoken Word poetry, bringing it to life using dramatic techniques for performance, and work on composing your own book of poetry.
  • Basketball — Learn and develop skills of the sport through drills for dribbling, shooting, passing, defense, and teamwork.
  • Girls Basketball — 6-13 · Learn and develop skills of the sport through drills in dribbling, shooting, passing, defense, and teamwork.
  • Basketball League | Coed — Middle school boys & girls · Limited to 60 players; 6 balanced teams drafted based on skill level to create competitive games; single-elimination playoffs.
  • Bollywood Groove Dance — Learn expressive movements, upbeat choreography, and cultural dance styles inspired by Indian film and music.
  • Bollywood Groove Family Dance — Sign Up a child & Bring 2 Family Members. Experience the energy and joy of Bollywood dance as a family.
  • Canvas Painting — Enjoy painting on a canvas every at every class. Complete at least 7 of your own works to take home throughout the session.
  • Chess — Games are set up by age and/or skill level.
  • Clay Play, Arts & Crafts — Students explore imagination and self-expression through hands-on clay projects, painting, crafting, and a variety of other engaging art activities.
  • Color Pencil Art — Create inspirational works of art while learning techniques such as layering, blending, shading, and more.
  • Crochet — Discover the relaxing & creative art of crochet. Learn basic techniques on how to use a crochet hook as you create slip knots, and simple stitches & projects.
