Arts Camps includes activities in fine art, digital media art, and performing arts. Campers take part in painting, drawing, music, animation, performance design, puppetry, and both 2-D and 3-D sculptures, along with free art making. Daily schedules include opening and closing circle, art instruction, open studio time, snack, lunch, and outside play, and campers experience a full day of art and activities.
• Ages: 5–11 years old
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 am–4:00 pm, with 4 one-week sessions at Dutchess Arts Camp – Poughkeepsie and 3 one-week sessions at Ulster Arts Camp – New Paltz
• Price: Early drop-off available for an additional $25/day; Late pick-up available for an additional $25/day
Themes for Dutchess Arts Camp 2026 are Patterns & Pirates, Rainbows & Robots, Comics & Comets, and Glitter & Goblins. Themes for Ulster Arts Camp 2026 are Wizards & Whimsy, Fungi & Friends, and Doodles & Dinosaurs. Accomplishments are celebrated at a final showcase where each child’s family and friends are invited to see performances, videos, and an art gallery of work created during the week. Professional teaching artists work with campers in small groups.
The Art Effect’s mission is to empower young people to develop their creative voice, shape their futures, and bring about positive social change through visual and media arts. Members save an additional 5% on classes and Summer Arts Camps, get VIP entry to meet with top arts colleges at Hudson Valley Regional Portfolio Day, and receive early access to registration for year-round art courses. Past guest artists and partners include Avery Engstrom, Jenna Pyzowski, Mary Haddad, Maya Llanos, Miles Cohen, Morgan Suter, Nia Scott, Paper Heart Puppets, Paul Solomon, The Samuel Dorsky Museum, SUNY New Paltz, The Vanaver Caravan, Zach Reid, and ZOI Productions. Website development is made possible, in part, through funding from the County of Dutchess and administered by Arts Mid-Hudson.
