About

Hudson River Community Sailing offers City Sail Camp for ages 9-17, Sail Academy, and lessons for adults at least 18 years old. It also offers Soldiers Under Sail for veterans of all branches of the U.S. military in the New York metropolitan area and Heroes on the Hudson, an annual full-day adaptive sports clinic that combines sailing and kayaking.

  • Lessons — At least 18 years old · Affordable small group and private sailing lessons; all lessons except Family Sails and Private Lessons are capped at 4 participants.
  • Soldiers Under Sail — Veterans of all branches of the U.S. military in the New York metropolitan area · Thursday and Saturday mornings from May-October · Adaptive sailing program designed to make sailing accessible for veterans; no prior sailing experience required.
  • Heroes on the Hudson — Over 70 injured veterans from across the city · Annual full-day event · Adaptive sports clinic combining sailing and kayaking.

About the provider

Hudson River Community Sailing is a non-profit youth development and community sailing organization serving New York City youth and the community at large. Its mission is to develop leadership and academic success in underserved New York City youth through sailing education and to provide maritime education and recreation to the community at large.

New York City Parks has closed Dyckman Marina in Inwood for a waterfront reconstruction project planned for 2026-2027; as a result, sailing will only take place in Chelsea.
