CityParks Learn is part of City Parks Foundation programs that include environmental education, where students experience science while learning about their relationship to the natural world and ways they can protect the environment. CityParks Learn is connected to a broader set of City Parks Foundation activities that also include CityParks tennis and the SummerStage performing arts festival, as well as free sports instruction, coaching, and equipment for kids and senior citizens in locations across New York City.

City Parks Foundation states that its mission is to invigorate and transform parks into centers of urban life through sports, arts, community building, and education programs for New Yorkers. City Parks Foundation programs take place in more than 330 parks, recreation centers, and public schools across New York City and reach nearly 300,000 people each year. CityParks tennis is described as the largest municipal tennis instruction program for kids in the country, and SummerStage is described as the city’s largest free outdoor performing arts festival. City Parks Foundation sports programs provide free sports instruction, coaching, and equipment to more than 9,000 kids ages 6 to 17 and senior citizens in nearly 70 locations citywide. City Parks Foundation environmental education programs, which include CityParks Learn, focus on students’ experiences with science and the natural environment. Partnerships for Parks, a joint effort of City Parks Foundation and NYC Parks, supports neighborhood volunteers with tools to advocate for and care for local parks and green spaces.
