Shine was founded by Aaron Goldschmidt in 2004 and went mobile in 2006. The Shine website and lifestyle blog launched in 2012. In 2021, Shine opened its first process and creative arts space, called The Shine Studio, which also serves as its headquarters, creative hub, venue for events, classes, and camps, and a studio to film videos.

Shine describes itself as a one-stop-shop for today’s modern child and their families and states that it takes children’s enrichment classes and birthday parties out of the classroom and makes them mobile. The program states that its goal is to unlock individuality and potential through exploration, creativity, and acceptance, and that its philosophy is based in traditional teaching philosophies with an understanding of today’s modern child. Shine states that it is for families of all make-ups to learn, play, and party, and that within every child is a light and it is the program’s job to help them “Shine.”

Shine is described as a leading provider of pop-up classes, parties, and camps for kids 6 months to 12 years old in the New York tri-state area, with a team of educators, teaching artists, and musicians who custom create programming. The program states that its programming is designed to inspire creativity, confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning, and that it offers a variety of services tailored to bring learning, creativity, and community into one experience. Shine goes beyond the classroom and can come to a chosen venue, be visited via its studio, or accessed through downloaded videos or craft boxes, and it offers Hamptons Summer Camps described as “East End Adventures” and a summer camp hosted by LongHouse.

The leadership and advisory group connected to Shine includes founder and director Aaron Goldschmidt; Kiki Schaffer, Director of The ParentingFamily & Early Childhood Center of the 14th Street Y; Selena Rothwell, Chair of Education, LongHouse Reserve; Marcie Pantzer, Founder of Dear Annabelle; Amanda Fuhrman, Co-Founder of the Fuhrman Family Foundation and FLAG Art Foundation; and Juliet Izon, Freelance Writer.

Parent and partner testimonials describe Shine camps and parties as including creative art projects, fun and educational activities, and field trips, as well as private cooking classes that produced food the children made themselves. Multiple testimonials highlight Aaron’s role as director and teacher, describing his work with children and families, his classroom presence, and his ability to handle group dynamics with young children. Testimonials also describe Shine’s summer camp at LongHouse as including sculpture, artists, nature, design, open-ended discussions, discovery walks, meditation, science, music, art, and dance.
