About

Young Actors at Strasberg is a program for kids and teens interested in developing a strong foundation in Lee Strasberg’s Method Acting. The program takes place within The Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute, where the curriculum was designed by Lee Strasberg and focuses on The Method, which trains actors to use their physical, mental, and emotional selves in the creation of a play’s characters and stresses the way in which personal experience can fire the actor’s imagination.

The Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute was established in 1969. It is dedicated to the ideals, values, and vision of Lee Strasberg’s innovative work, known throughout the world as The Method, and works to further the legacy of Lee Strasberg, train actors, and maintain his place as a figure in the American theatre tradition. Teachers conducting classes have been selected for their comprehensive knowledge of Strasberg’s work and their ability to apply it to the problems of the actor. The Institute is the only acting school in the world that teaches Lee Strasberg’s work in its complete and authentic form, and Lee Strasberg’s students have won more awards than those of any other teacher. The Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute is an institutionally accredited member of the National Association of Schools of Theatre (NAST), operates as a private for-profit C-Corporation, and also operates a private not-for-profit branch, The Lee Strasberg Creative Center. One testimonial states, “Young Actors at Strasberg is a program for kids and teens interested in developing a strong foundation in Lee Strasberg’s Method Acting.” Another testimonial from Lisa Garisto states, “I am now able to extract the dynamic and full essence of each character, which has drastically improved my ability to live truthfully on stage.” A testimonial from Hamish Carmichael states, “A teacher of mine at the school once told us that Lee Strasberg was the first person who made him feel that he was enough and that he was all he needed to be. That same teacher made me feel the same way.”
