Carmel United Soccer Club offers a competitive travel soccer program, an inhouse/recreational soccer program, and seasonal training options including a Winter Foot Skills Clinic, Spring Academy, Summer Camps, Fall Academy, and Winter Academy. The club runs both travel and inhouse programs and adds clinics and academies at different times of the year to focus on skills and development.

Founded in 1980, Carmel United Soccer Club is a volunteer-run, community-based, not-for-profit organization. It is a registered 501(c)(3) organization, and board members are not paid. The club is not a school or town sponsored program, and it is located in New York State with no affiliation to any club in another state with a similar name. Carmel United provides a competitive travel program for ages 8 through high school and an inhouse/recreational program for ages 3 through 13. The organization is committed to training players to prepare them for high school level competition and beyond.
The mission of Carmel United is to provide developmental soccer programs for children residing predominantly within the Carmel Central School District footprint. The club states that it wants as many children as possible from the community playing soccer in the community. Its mission emphasizes creating a lifelong love for soccer through programs that provide both social and physical development for children of all skill levels in a supportive, safe, and positive development environment. The mission also highlights encouraging and prioritizing teamwork, good sportsmanship, education, and community, with the objective of preparing players to compete for the local high school soccer program.
Players predominantly come from within the Carmel Central School District. In conjunction with the Carmel Central School District, the club strives to continually feed players from its travel program into the Carmel High School soccer program, including George Fischer Middle School Modified soccer, Carmel High School Junior Varsity, and Varsity teams.
Carmel United’s Board of Directors comprises five elected Board Officers and eight appointed Trustees. All Board of Directors members are volunteers and are not compensated for serving on the Board. The Board of Directors meets on the 4th Monday of each month via Zoom, and the Annual General Meeting takes place at the regularly scheduled June board meeting. The leadership team includes: Joe Matera – President & Travel Program Director; Barbara Ferreira – Vice President & Inhouse Program Director; Phil Larkin – Vice President; Secretary – Vacant; Jennifer Wiener – Treasurer (interim); Marc Gard – Head Coach, U8–U12; Vasiliy Shevelchinsky – Head Coach, U13–U19 & Academy Director; Keren Larkin – Referee Coordinator; Sean Hall – Field Coordinator; Chris Hundersmarck – Trustee; Marketing Coordinator – Vacant; Fundraising Coordinator – Vacant; Inhouse Coordinator – Vacant.
Carmel United notes that Phil Larkin is a member of the Hudson Valley Youth Soccer League Hall of Fame.
