DNALC science summer camps give students in grades 6–12 hands-on experience with the tools and techniques of modern biology. Multiple DNALC camps are designed to prepare students to earn microcredentials from the Biosciences Core Skills Institute (BCSI), a nationally recognized workforce skills assessment provider. Camps prepare students for certifications in Small Volume Metrology and Aseptic Technique, and once participants successfully finish an eligible camp, they are permitted to sit for their certification exam on scheduled testing dates. Research preparation workshops are available for students to gain real-world science skills, and sibling and multi-camp discounts, as well as scholarships, are available. All equipment and reagents used for the evaluations are provided, so participants do not need to bring their own.
