About the provider
The program was originally established as the YMCA Camp, “Camp Iroquois,” nearly 100 years ago, and New York State Sheriffs have offered the camp since 1986. Hundreds of kids from across New York State attend the Sheriffs’ Summer Camp each year at no cost to their families. Campers interact with law enforcement who serve as counselors and volunteers, and each County Sheriff is given a predetermined number of camper slots.
The camp is for boys and girls ages 9 to 12 who because of economic reasons would not have an opportunity to attend a summer camp or enjoy a summer vacation. In the case of a family emergency only, the Camp Nurse may be contacted at (315) 536-2754 to pass an urgent message along to the child. The camp opens in June and attendance is at no cost to families.
