About
John McEnroe Tennis Academy offers tennis training through JMTA Training Camps, JMTA Summer Training Camps, and a Summer Tennis Training Camp. The program includes JMTA Green & Yellow Ball Programs, JMTA MAC Red & Orange Programs, JMTA MAC Red & Orange Ball Performance Enhancements, and JMTA Green & Yellow Ball Training. Players also have access to Tennis & Athletic Scholarship Tryouts, JMTA Program Enhancements, JMTA College Navigator Service, and JMTA College Signings, along with strength, agility, mental toughness, and injury prevention training, plus guidance on proper nutrition and hydration.

Launched in 2010, John McEnroe Tennis Academy was conceived and developed by John McEnroe in partnership with SPORTIME Clubs. The academy is directed by John McEnroe, along with JMTA Executive Director Patrick McEnroe and SPORTIME Executive Director of Tennis Mike Barrell, who is described as a world-renowned junior development expert. JMTA features an international staff of dedicated and enthusiastic coaches with a diversity of experience, and coaches receive ongoing supervision, support, and training to follow the JMTA coaching methodology. The program states a mission of tennis mastery through holistic development and discovery-based learning, with positive and motivational coaching that focuses on developing the technical and tactical abilities of players and that demands intensity and efficiency from both players and coaches.
JMTA describes itself as a community of learners and as the tri-state area’s #1 program for developing nationally and internationally competitive juniors, as well as junior players of all ages and levels who aspire to be the best that they can be. The training program includes off-court programming such as strength, agility, and mental toughness training, injury prevention protocols and training, and training and guidance on proper nutrition and hydration, and it states that it supports players in their academic and off-court pursuits. JMTA reports that it has produced hundreds of players who have won titles at the sectional, national, intercollegiate, and international levels, and thousands more who have taken up tennis as a life-long sport. SPORTIME Randall’s Island, a related organization, has been named USTA Member Organization of the Year.
