Junior and Adult Sailing Programs include a Junior Sailing Camp Program and an Adult Sailing Program with sailing lessons, power boating, boat sharing, cruising, racing, kayaking, and sailboat racing. The Junior Sailing Camp teaches the basics of sailing while instilling confidence on the water. The Adult Sailing Program offers sailing lessons for adults, along with access to activities such as cruising and racing.

• Schedule: Junior Sailing Camp Program starting June 29th; Adult Sailing Program beginning July 2026; Boat Sharing Program runs from May 16th through October
The Junior Sailing Camp is for swimmers ages 6–16 with little or no sailing experience, as well as advanced beginners interested in honing their skills or learning to race. The Adult Sailing Program is available to adults ages 18 and up with little or no sailing experience, as well as advanced beginners interested in honing their skills or learning to race. Private or semi-private evening or weekend lessons configured to the needs of the interested party are available. The Junior Sailing Camp is led by a certified sailing instructor, and the Junior Sailing Camp Program is open to children of members, relatives of members, and, on a limited basis, non-members.
The Boat Sharing Program allows use of a well-maintained Colgate 26 sailboat without the need to buy, insure, or deal with owning a boat, and Boat Sharing Program membership is available to members of North Shore Yacht Club only. Two first-class launches provide prompt, reliable service to and from members’ boats during busy summer weekends. Membership at North Shore Yacht Club includes robust education and social events, membership rates that are far lower than other yacht clubs and marinas, and free introductory sailing outings offered by members with boats for prospective members during the sailing season.
North Shore Yacht Club was founded in 1871 and has been located on the north shore of Manhasset Bay since 1933, and it is the oldest yacht club on Long Island. The club’s mission statements include “For People Who Love Being on the Water!”, “Proud of our rich heritage, yet always seeking the latest boating innovations.”, and “A Rich Past with an Eye on the Future.” The leadership team includes Club Steward Captain Vic Geryk and Club Steward Mary Lu Dempsey. The club participates in ad hoc racing events with other yacht clubs on Manhasset Bay.
