About
My Spectrum School Programs offers school program activities and projects that include Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics. The program takes place in a 5000 square foot innovative learning environment.

My Spectrum School's mission is to develop the gifts and strengths of individual children, maximize their full potential, and foster a love of learning in an enriched environment. The program includes Early Childhood Education, Gifted & Talented Education, seven domains of knowledge, STEAM Summer Camp, After School Enrichment, and workshops. My Spectrum School furthers community outreach in connection with Port Washington School District and local organizations.
The leadership team includes Dr. Linda D., Ed. D, Director & Teacher; “Science” Jason, MS, STEAM Director & Teacher; and Jennifer, MBA, Assistant Director & Teacher. Dr. Linda D. has extensive years of experience and knowledge teaching gifted and talented education and implementing multi-criteria gifted assessment for children ages 3–12, has taught Kindergarten to Grade 4 as a per diem substitute teacher in Manhasset Public Elementary Schools, and created and directed the Amityville Elementary Public School Quest Gifted and Talented program for students in Grades 1–5. She earned a Doctorate of Education and a Master of Education degree from Columbia University, studied under Dr. James Borland, Dr. Abraham Tannenbaum, and Dr. Burton, and earned two Master of Science degrees in Education from Long Island University, CW Post; she also attends and participates in Harvard University plenaries, institutes, and discussions with Dr. Howard Gardner, Dr. David Perkins, and other scholars. Jason began his educational career as a Research Assistant at Adelphi University on a study titled “Investigating College Students Thinking about Scientific Concepts,” worked with AHRC New York City as a Teacher Assistant collaborating on learning environments for gifted students ages 5–7, studied Mind Brain research at Harvard University, earned two Associate Degrees in Liberal Arts and Science from Orange Coast College, received two “NYS Scholar” grants for high academic achievement in his master studies and Early Childhood Education internship, and holds a Master of Science degree in Early Childhood Education from LIU CW Post College. Jennifer’s background includes collaborating with senior executives at Nike, Inc. and Ralph Lauren Corporation, extensive travel across multiple continents to develop apparel and accessories collections and cross-functional teams and processes, launching a consulting and D.I.Y. project business called Junket Market, Inc. in 2013, participating in the Harvard University Graduate School of Education Project Zero summer session, holding a Master of Business Administration degree from Loyola Marymount University and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Loyola University Maryland, and pursuing a Master of Art in Teaching degree from Queens College (expected 2024) and the NYS Children's Program Administrator Credential through NYAEYC.
My Spectrum School has received recognition including BEST SUMMER CAMP 2023, 2022, and 2021; BEST CHILD CARE 2023, 2022, and 2021; BEST TEACHER, MR. SCIENCE JASON 2023 and 2022; BEST AFTER-SCHOOL 2023; BEST PRESCHOOL 2023; BEST PRIVATE SCHOOL 2023; and a GRANT PROJECT NYAEYC, MS. JENNIFER 2023–2024. The school is associated with the New York State Department of Education, New York State Office of Children and Family Services, Columbia University, Harvard University, National Association for the Education of Young Children, Great Schools, Child Care Council of Nassau, AGATE of Port Washington, Quality Stars NY, Department of Social Services Nassau, and National School Choice Week.
Parent feedback includes comments such as seeing a dramatic increase in their children’s confidence and appreciation for personalized, individual attention (Tara P). Another parent notes that a child is “thrilled to go” each week and is “being nourished intellectually by a caring staff” (Lisa S). One parent describes the staff as caring, patient, and professional, and reports that after three weeks of enrollment their 3-year-old was “flourishing and excelling” in a specialized teaching plan (Andrea M).
