About

My Spectrum School STEAM Programs and Camps engages children in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics through school program activities and projects. The program takes place in a 5000 square foot innovative learning environment that features an interactive, hands-on design inspired by the Harvard University Graduate School of Education Project Zero summer session. Students work with individualized curriculum and instruction that reflect their interests, abilities, and needs across seven domains of knowledge: Language/Literacy, Math, Science, Art, Music, Social Understanding, and Movement, and are also introduced to modern fashion design concepts in school, after school, and workshop programs.

My Spectrum School STEAM Programs and Camps follows a mission to develop the gifts and strengths of individual children, maximize their full potential, and foster a love of learning in an enriched environment. The program includes STEAM topics, activities, and projects that incorporate real-world experiences and emphasize 21st century skills within a stimulating enriched environment that supports cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development.

The leadership team includes Dr. Linda D., Ed. D as Director and Teacher, “Science” Jason, MS as STEAM Director and Teacher, and Jennifer, MBA as Assistant Director and Teacher. Dr. Linda D. holds a Doctorate of Education and a Master of Education from Columbia University, two Master of Science degrees in Education from Long Island University CW Post, and has extensive years of experience teaching gifted and talented education and implementing multi-criteria gifted assessment for children ages 3–12. She created and directed the Amityville Elementary Public School Quest Gifted and Talented program for students in Grades 1–5 and has worked as a per diem substitute teacher in Manhasset Public Elementary Schools teaching Kindergarten through Grade 4, while also attending and participating in Harvard University plenaries, institutes, and discussions. “Science” Jason, MS began his educational career as a Research Assistant at Adelphi University on a study titled “Investigating College Students Thinking about Scientific Concepts” while earning a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, worked with AHRC New York City as a Teacher Assistant, studied Mind Brain research at Harvard University, earned two Associate Degrees in Liberal Arts and Science from Orange Coast College, received two “NYS Scholar” grants for high academic achievement in his master’s studies and Early Childhood Education internship, and holds a Master of Science in Early Childhood Education from LIU CW Post College. Jennifer, MBA began her fashion career collaborating with senior executives at Nike, Inc. and Ralph Lauren Corporation, launched the consulting and D.I.Y. project business Junket Market, Inc. in 2013, participated in the Harvard University Graduate School of Education Project Zero summer session, holds an MBA from Loyola Marymount University and a BA from Loyola University Maryland, and is pursuing a Master of Art in Teaching from Queens College (expected 2024) and the NYS Children’s Program Administrator Credential through NYAEYC.

My Spectrum School STEAM Programs and Camps has received recognition including BEST SUMMER CAMP 2023, 2022, and 2021; BEST CHILD CARE 2023, 2022, and 2021; BEST TEACHER, MR. SCIENCE JASON 2023 and 2022; BEST AFTER-SCHOOL 2023; BEST PRESCHOOL 2023; BEST PRIVATE SCHOOL 2023; and a GRANT PROJECT NYAEYC awarded to Ms. Jennifer for 2023–2024. The school is associated with the New York State Department of Education, New York State Office of Children and Family Services, Columbia University, Harvard University, the National Association for the Education of Young Children, Great Schools, Child Care Council of Nassau, AGATE of Port Washington, Quality Stars NY, Department of Social Services Nassau, and National School Choice Week. Community outreach is conducted in connection with the Port Washington School District and local organizations.

Parent feedback includes comments from Tara P, who reports a dramatic increase in her children’s confidence and values the personalized, individual attention they receive.
