For over 45 years, families have turned to Future Stars to help kids develop skills in athletics, arts, and academics. The mission of Future Stars is to give every child a summer they will never forget, one filled with growth, joy, and belonging. The leadership team includes founder Charlie VanDercook, who started Future Stars in 1980, and partner Bill Griffin, who joined in 1995. Staff at Future Stars includes professional educators, experienced athletes, collegiate coaches, and dedicated mentors, and the camp maintains a low staff-to-camper ratio, usually one staff member for every 4–8 campers.
Future Stars Summer Camp offers expert-led sports and specialty programs across 10 New York locations and runs 30+ programs with flexible week-by-week enrollment for families in Long Island, Westchester, and NYC. Programs are tailored for different age groups, including sports programs for ages 6–16, STEAM and enrichment programs for ages 7–14, visual and performing arts programs for ages 7–14, adventure programs for ages 8–15, and early childhood programs for ages 4–6. Each campus has designated morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up windows with staff supervising arrivals and dismissals, and select locations offer door-to-door transportation for eligible families. Every program is built on STARS values: Safety, Teamwork, Attitude, Responsibility, and Sportsmanship. Daily essentials for campers include a water bottle, sunscreen, lunch or snacks (or a lunch plan if available), and swimwear.
Parent feedback includes comments such as, “The staff's enthusiasm is infectious! My kids came home smiling every day, excited to tell me what they learned,” from Sarah P., and “Future Stars helped my shy child make friends and truly blossom. I love how they’re week-to-week so we can pick and choose. My daughter tried circus, diving, and tennis—she loved every single one!”
