About
USTA Junior Programs include Team Challenge, Junior Team Tennis, and Junior Circuit events, along with singles, doubles, and mixed doubles matches. The programs also include wheelchair tennis and adaptive tennis options for youth with disabilities, as well as a complete wheelchair pathway from youth and high school through collegiate and international competition like the Paralympics and the UNIQLO Wheelchair Tour. The USTA’s American Development Model (ADM) provides a framework for providers, coaches, athletes, and parents for growing friendships, improving skill, and maximizing the potential of players at all levels.
The mission of the USTA Foundation is to bring tennis and education together to change lives. The National Junior Tennis and Learning (NJTL) network features nearly 300 chapters and reaches approximately 180,000 youth on an annual basis. NJTL chapters provide free or low-cost tennis and scholastic programming to the 50 largest markets in the U.S. Adaptive tennis in these programs can improve hand-eye coordination, balance, mobility, strength and fitness, build self-confidence, relieve stress and create a social outlet. Team Challenge is an introductory environment that allows kids to play without an emphasis on instruction or results, Junior Team Tennis is a more competitive team format that includes singles, doubles, and mixed doubles matches, and Junior Circuit events use level-based play while emphasizing good sportsmanship.
