These camps are offered as summer and break week Curiosity Camps with enrichment programs for young minds. Campers have access to RMSC resources that include over 200 interactive science and history themed exhibits and science demonstrations, a 65-foot domed Star theater with star shows, laser shows, and featured giant screen films, and 12 miles of hiking and ski trails with a Visitor Center and year-round environmental education programs.

• Schedule: Summer and break week camp options with enrichment programs for young minds

The RMSC states that its mission is to create a better world through inspiring curiosity, exploration and engagement across history, science, culture and the natural world. The organization states a commitment to taking a stance against racism and to becoming a diverse and inclusive community resource, and it has a Board and Staff Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee. The RMSC provides a land acknowledgement recognizing that it sits on the unceded land of the Onöndowa’ga:’ (Seneca) people of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy.

The RMSC works with communities of origin and interest to illuminate the lived experiences and cultural perspectives of the people it represents. It collaborates with organizations and individuals of diverse backgrounds, ages, communities of origin, and abilities on program and exhibit development, and has worked with Black, Latine, Asian, Hodinöšyö:nih, and other Indigenous communities to create exhibitions and programs such as “Take it Down! Organizing Against Racism,” “Objectively Racist: How Objects and Images Perpetuate Racism… And What We Can Do To Change It,” “The Changemakers: Rochester Women Who Changed the World,” “Haudenosaunee Days,” and “A Journey Through Time in African American History.” The RMSC continues to create and cultivate relationships with Native American communities through NAGPRA consultation and the repatriation of ancestors and cultural heritage objects.

Curiosity Camps are part of a larger organization led by a defined leadership team that includes Hillary Olson as President & CEO and Calvin Uzelmeier, Ph.D as Vice President, Programs & Exhibits. The team also includes staff in education, community engagement, collections and curation, facilities and operations, technology, and camp coordination, including roles such as Camp Coordinator & Educator and Assistant Director, Education.
