Curiosity Camps are enrichment programs offered by the Rochester Museum & Science Center (RMSC). These camps are part of the RMSC’s summer and break week Curiosity Camps offerings and have a dedicated contact line listed as “CURIOSITY CAMPS 585.271.4320 ca***@**sc.org”.
The mission of the RMSC, which operates Curiosity Camps, is to create a better world through inspiring curiosity, exploration and engagement across history, science, culture and the natural world. RMSC includes three floors with over 200 interactive science and history themed exhibits and science demonstrations at the Museum & Science Center, a 65-foot domed Star theater with star shows, laser shows, and featured giant screen films at the Strasenburgh Planetarium, and 12 miles of hiking and ski trails, a Visitor Center, and year-round events and environmental education programs at the Cumming Nature Center. The organization’s leadership team includes President & CEO Hillary Olson and Vice President, Programs & Exhibits Calvin Uzelmeier, Ph.D., along with staff such as Camp Coordinator & Educator Winona Brown and Assistant Director, Education Stephanie Hildreth. The RMSC works with communities of origin and interest, including Black, Latine, Asian, Hodinöšyö:nih, and other Indigenous communities, on exhibitions and programs such as Take it Down! Organizing Against Racism; Objectively Racist: How Objects and Images Perpetuate Racism… And What We Can Do To Change It; The Changemakers: Rochester Women Who Changed the World; Haudenosaunee Days; and A Journey Through Time in African American History, and continues relationships with Native American communities through NAGPRA consultation and repatriation of ancestors and cultural heritage objects. RMSC Memberships provide free admission to certain programs and events and a year of exploration at RMSC locations.
