About
theCoderSchool offers private and semi-private coaching, coding classes, and virtual learning that include activities such as robotics, Python, Scratch, and video game coding. The program is set up as an after-school drop-off and virtual program for kids learning to code, and students receive personalized guidance from experienced Code Coaches in a super-small student-to-teacher ratio that is typically 2:1. Students also learn how AI works, how to use it responsibly, and how to think critically about the technology around them.
• Schedule: After-school program with virtual learning options
Founded in 2013, theCoderSchool describes itself as a coding school for kids. It is noted as the largest coding school in Silicon Valley with additional locations around the country and runs a National Top App of the Month program for student-created apps. As a longtime partner of the Congressional App Challenge, theCoderSchool is involved in encouraging innovation through coding across the country, and beginning in 2025–2026 it is collaborating with the Congressional App Challenge to run a national recognition program to identify a handful of the top applications from thousands of student submissions nationwide.
Parent feedback includes comments such as a parent from New Jersey noting a customized curriculum for STEM concepts via coding, and parents from California and Georgia describing their children’s online coding lessons and camps as engaging and productive, including creating and improving games between sessions. Another parent from Connecticut reports that their kids were very excited about learning something new in a Scratch camp and planned to return later in the summer.
