theCoderSchool was founded in 2013 and is headquartered in Silicon Valley. Its core program uses a super-small student-to-teacher ratio, typically 2:1, and focuses on a mentor relationship with experienced coders called Code Coaches. It runs an after-school drop-off and virtual program for kids learning to code, and also offers an AppStream product for new coders through an online weekly video format, along with a National Top App of the Month program for student-created apps. The leadership team at this location includes Hansel and Wayne.

As a longtime partner of the Congressional App Challenge (CAC), theCoderSchool is involved in encouraging innovation through coding across the country. Beginning in 2025–2026, it is collaborating with CAC to run a national recognition program to identify a handful of top applications from thousands of CAC submissions nationwide. Its mission statement describes it as a place where kids learn to code in cool startup-vibe locations.
