About
Smithtown Historical Society Education Programs introduces children to Long Island’s past by inviting them to wander through historical houses and explore the twenty-acre site and historic buildings. Participants meet farm animals, interact with educators in attire, and explore Long Island’s history from the Colonial to Civil War periods. The program also includes hands-on learning opportunities for grades 3–5 and offers chances to attend fundraising events.
• Ages: 8–11 years old
• Schedule: Opening hours Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm
Support for the Smithtown Historical Society Education Programs includes a generous grant from the Robert David Lion Gardiner Foundation. The organization notes that many visitors often refer to it as a “Hidden Gem.” The programs align with New York State and National standards, and the website was designed and built by Priya Kapoor in 2025. Families are invited to support the community by attending the program’s fundraising events.
