About

Smithtown Historical Society Education Programs offer engaging education programs for school-aged children focusing on Long Island's history from the Colonial to Civil War periods. Children explore the rich history of the community by wandering through historical houses, meeting farm animals, and exploring a twenty-acre site and historic buildings. During programs, students interact with educators in attire as part of hands-on learning opportunities for grades 3–5.

• Ages: 8–11 years old
• Schedule: Opening hours Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm

The programs are often referred to as a “Hidden Gem” by many visitors and align with New York State and National standards. The site includes The Franklin O. Arthur Farm and a twenty-acre setting with historic buildings. The Smithtown Historical Society notes support from the Robert David Lion Gardiner Foundation through a generous grant. Families can also support the community by attending fundraising events connected with these programs.
