Easterseals New York, which operates Project Explore Integrated Preschool, was founded in 1922. The program is led by Lisa Smacchia, Director of Project Explore. Certified preschool teachers in the Valhalla Center work closely with the Valhalla School District. Project Explore was developed in conjunction with the Valhalla School District to respond to a need by parents in Valhalla for after school programs, child care, and pre-kindergarten programs.

Project Explore focuses on cognitive development, social development, and language development through its after school, integrated preschool, and inclusive child day care programs. The Integrated Preschool serves children with disabilities and their typically developing peers ages 2.9 to 5 years and provides special education services, including speech, occupational, and physical therapy, counseling, and special education, while also offering a curriculum for general education students. This preschool mirrors Project Discovery in Port Jervis. Inclusive child day care is available for children ages 18 months to 5 years, and an after school program is available for students ages 5 through 12, developed in coordination with the Valhalla School District. Easterseals states that it is dedicated to empowering individuals of all abilities to thrive at every stage of life.
