Project Explore is part of the Easterseals New York Child Development Center and was developed in conjunction with the Valhalla School District. It includes an After School Program for students ages 5 through 12, an Integrated Preschool for children with disabilities and their typically developing peers ages 2.9 to 5 years, and an Inclusive Child Day Care for children ages 18 months to 5 years. The After School Program provides after school activities and a curriculum focusing on socialization and development. The Integrated Preschool provides special education services, including Speech, Occupational, and Physical Therapy, Counseling, and Special Education to preschoolers with disabilities, while also providing a curriculum for general education students, and it has both a morning and an afternoon session. Certified preschool teachers in the Valhalla Center work closely with the Valhalla School District. Project Explore was developed in conjunction with the Valhalla School District to respond to a need by parents in Valhalla for quality after school programs, child care, and pre-kindergarten programs, and it focuses on cognitive development, social development, and language development through its After School, Integrated Preschool, and Inclusive Child Day Care programs. The program is led by Lisa Smacchia, Director of Project Explore.
